KU welcomes a delegation from NPU, China

 On 25 October 2019, at 10.00 a.m., at meeting room 901 on the 9 floor of Building 9, Faculty of Engineering at Kasetsart University, Associate Professor Dr. Aphichart RODCHANAROWAN, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Chaiwat KLAMPOL, Assistant to the President for Coordination for the Eastern Economic Corridor Development Project (EEC), Sriracha Campus Kasetsart University; and Associate Professor Dr. Mongkol RAKSAPATCHARAWONG, Head of Chulabhorn Satellite Receiving Station (CSRS), Faculty of Engineering; welcomed 7 delegates from Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), China led by Professor HUANG Wei, Executive Vice President, NPU; along with the faculty and staff consisting of Professor CHE Ada, Dean, School of Management, NPU; Mr. XIANG Dan, Deputy Director, Global Engagement Office, NPU; Associate Professor Dr. DUAN Libin, Deputy Director, Global Engagement Office; Dr. XIAOKUI Yue, Dean of the School of Astronautics, NPU; Mr. WAN Haidong, Vice Dean, Yangze River Delta Research Institution; and Ms. WU Yiqiong, Program Manager, Global Engagement Office, NPU; on the occasion of visiting Kasetsart University, under the coordination of Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO). APSCO is an inter-governmental organization dedicated to promote and strengthen the development of collaborative space programs among its Member States by establishing the basis for cooperation in peaceful applications of space science and technology.

  APSCO is inclined to making benefit for all its member states, especially in talent cultivation and Education. In this regard, APSCO would like to function as a platform of universities among member states. APSCO had established long-term cooperation relationship with universities worldwide. Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) which is one of the top-level universities of China has jointly organized different kinds of activities with APSCO in past years and go fruitful achievements. NPU is one of APSCO’s premium partners.

  APSCO and Kasetsart University (KU) has established long-term cooperative partnership and have successful jointly organized activities in Training Program and Projects. Since KU has solid foundation and fruitful achievement in talent cultivation and education, therefore, Professor HUANG Wei, Executive Vice President, and NPU delegation would like to seek for cooperation opportunities with Kasetsart University.

  On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Aphichart RODCHANAROWAN, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Chaiwat KLAMPOL, Assistant to the President for Coordination for the Eastern Economic Corridor Development Project (EEC), Sriracha Campus Kasetsart University; and Associate Professor Dr. Mongkol RAKSAPATCHARAWONG, Head of Chulabhorn Satellite Receiving Station (CSRS), Faculty of Engineering; warmly welcomed a delegation from NPU and introducing the background information of Kasetsart University including some information of the Faculty of Engineering, and also mentions about the collaborative activities that the Faculty of Engineering and the CSRS has collaborated with Chinese educational institutions in recent year, depicted the strong connecting between two countries in various projects. At this meeting, NPU delegation has exchanged various information and gave two presentations on “School of Astronautics” and “the Progress of CubeSat Research in NPU”, and further discussion on academic cooperation with KU such as exchange mobility (students, staff and researchers), joint research and research publication, and including various funding opportunities, student internships, visiting professor, field trips and short-term workshop trainings, and various Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development projects, etc. All in all, the topics are focusing on various disciplines of the Faculty of Engineering not limited to satellites or aerospace only. Both institutions are pleased to continue to negotiate cooperation and lead to the MOU signing which shall begin an official academic cooperation between NPU and KU in the near future. Later, the delegation also have a study visit at the satellite reception room and satellite dish on the rooftop area of Building 9, and the laboratory.

  The Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) based in Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi province, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jiangsu provincial government to jointly build NPU Research Institute in the Yangtze River Delta and NPU Taicang Campus. NPU specializes in research and education in astronomical, aeronautical, and marine engineering. NPU is ranked tenth among all Chinese engineering universities.
