ICE-Matter Meeting

On 3 July, 2019, our Faculty of Engineering hosted the Kick-Off Meeting for International Collaborative Education Program for Materials Technology, Education and Research Consortium (ICE-Matter), a collaborative network of Asian universities that aims to strengthen academic and research cooperation, boost academic-industrial relations, and provide solutions for regional developmental needs and human resource development.

The participants from AUN/SEED-Net (ASEAN University Network/South East Asia Engineering Education Development Network) were: Prof. Dr. Ueda Tamon, Chief Advisor and Acting Executive Director; Mr. Shimazu Hideki, Project Coordinator; Ms. Wanichar Sukprasertchai, Senior Program Officer; and Ms. Manida Pakpian, Program Officer. Meanwhile, from Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Engineering the representatives were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peerayuth Charnsethikul, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Dr. Patamaporn Sripadungtham, Associate Dean for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wanchai Yodsudjai, Associate Dean for Research; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sureerat Polsilapa, Head of the Department of Materials Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Apirat Laobuthee, Deputy Head of the Department of Materials Engineering; Aj. Porntip Lekpittaya, Deputy Head of the Department of Materials Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sureerat Polsilapa, Head of the Department of Materials Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oratai Jongprateep, ICE-Matter Coordinator; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ratchatee Techapiesancharoenkij, ICE-Matter Coordinator; Dr. Gasidit Panomsuwan, ICE-Matter Coordinator; Dr. Naray Pewnim, ICE-Matter Coordinator; Asst. Prof. Dr. Chakrapan Tuakta, Representative from the Department of Civil Engineering; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tidarut Wisuthseriwong, Representative from the Department of Civil Engineering.

In addition, a delegation from AUN/SEED-Net attended the discussions. This delegation comprised Mr. Yusuke Murakami, Deputy Chief Advisor of AUN/SEED-Net, representatives from Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), led by Professor Dr. Jun Ohta; as well as representatives from the National University of Laos (NUOL) and Yangon University of the Union of Myanmar. Together they held discussions to clarify the operational guidelines, explained recent as well as future activities; and were accompanied on a laboratory tour at our Faculty of Engineering.
